    Work has commenced.

We’ve been busy working over the last year, both to control the Himalayan balsam and to jump through the hoops required to get Coed Sanclêr up and running. Whilst this will largely have gone under the radar, with the arrival of diggers at the rear of the leisure centre recently, we thought it was about time we gave you an update.

The community of Sanclêr/St Clears have been presented with the rare opportunity to have their own woodland. The land is owned by Wales & West Housing Association, who have kindly agreed to lease it to us and to whom we are eternally grateful to for their support so far. This is a long term project and we’re still in the very early stages, but we’re hoping it can be an accessible green space for recreation, education and conservation.

Thanks to a grant from the National Grid Community Matters Fund (you can read the article about it here), we have been able to fund work to improve access to the land. Whilst this has made a huge difference, the area is still not safe, nor ready to be open to public access, so we ask you to please avoid entering unless joining us on one of our planned activities. We will have more information on these soon, so keep a eye out for updates here on our website, or follow our Facebook page – CoedSancler.

  • We’re official!

The driving force behind Coed Sanclêr is a small team of volunteers. We come from various backgrounds and have different skills and expertise, but are all committed to the dream of creating a positive space for both nature and the community of Sanclêr/St Clears and the surrounding areas.

It has taken many meetings, hours filling in forms and copious cups of tea, but Coed Sanclêr has now officially been accepted by the Charity Commission. Whilst only the first step of what may be a mammoth journey, it is still a milestone we’re proud of.
